No or little milk froth, or system not taking milk at all

There are several factors that could lead to the milk system of your coffee machine not functioning as desired. Luckily, these issues are all able to be solved by yourself at home, so no need to book a repair just yet.

Eliminate limescale

Limescale build-up in your appliance occurs when hard water leaves behind mineral deposits which mostly consist of calcium carbonate. Limescale can corrode the inside of your machine, cause blockages and harbour bacteria.

Solution:
To resolve this, descale your appliance following our descaling guide.

Using unsuitable milk

Your machine will also struggle to froth the milk, if the milk isn’t suitable for foaming.

Solution:
We recommend that you use fresh, cold milk that hasn’t been pre-boiled. Milk with a higher fat content of at least 1.5% is ideal.

Remove blockages

Various connections and pipes within your coffee machine can easily get blocked due to a variety of reasons. Common blockages include: the suction pipe, the beverage outlet, and one of the connections.

Solution

We recommend following our cleaning guides to quickly and safely unblock your coffee machine. Also, ensure the connections and beverage outlet are connected correctly as incorrect assembly can prevent the milk system from functioning.
