Gas hob keeps clicking

If your gas hob is making a clicking sound and you are wondering what’s causing it, our short guide will help you what the cause is and how to resolve the issue.

This is a common issue, which generally happens after you have cleaned your appliance and is usually nothing to be worried about. If excessive moisture gets into the igniter it will short out and continue to make a clicking noise. Once the water has been removed, usually through evaporation, the igniter will return back to normal and stop. However, if your ignition switch is broken it will not stop making the clicking noise and you will need to book a service technician visit, who will replace the switches if they are twisted or broken.

Once your hob has cooled down, check if the burner cap has been dispositioned. Remove the base burner and ensure that you replace the individual parts correctly. If you are unsure how to do this, check your appliance’s instruction manual for more information.
