Cleaning oven racks

To clean oven racks or shelves, you can use a combination of washing up liquid and our tested and approved degreaser for more stubborn burnt-on food and grease stains.

First, soak your oven racks and shelves in a solution of hot water and washing up liquid in a tub big enough to submerge the racks and shelves.

Leave them to soak for around two hours or longer, but don’t allow the water to cool completely as heat helps when cleaning.

After soaking, any remaining stains will mostly just rub straight off when wiped with a sponge or clean cloth, but if any stubborn stains still remain, try using our tested and approved degreaser or more powerful and effective cleaning. An old toothbrush may also be necessary for scrubbing right into the corners and completely removing scorch marks from oven racks.
