It’s normal for most ovens to produce some noise during use, especially when using the microwave function. The sound you hear is likely from the magnetron, which generates microwaves. However, if your oven is making unusually loud or persistent noises, there may be an underlying issue. Here are a few common causes:
Oven making loud noises
The fan element is dirty
Over time, grease and grime can accumulate on the oven fan, forcing it to work harder than normal. If this is the case, give the fan a thorough clean to restore normal operation. If cleaning doesn’t solve the issue, the fan may need to be replaced. We recommend booking a repair with one of our trained Bosch technicians.
The fan motor is damaged
If your oven fan is making a louder-than-usual noise and running slower, the fan motor could be damaged. Another sign is if the oven light is on, the heating element is working, but the oven isn’t heating properly or food is cooking unevenly. In this case, it’s best to schedule a repair with one of our highly trained Bosch technicians, as the damaged fan motor may be affecting air circulation.
The gas igniter won’t stop ticking
This is a common issue and is often caused by water entering the gas igniter, usually after cleaning your oven. The igniter can continue to make a ticking noise until the water evaporates. If the igniter is still ticking after drying, but no longer functioning properly, it could be a sign of a fault in the ignition switch. In this case, we recommend booking a repair with one of our experienced Bosch technicians.
