A Chair Designed to Enhance Comfort

Above and Beyond

Steelcase Karman is one of the lightest office chairs on the market, weighing in at 13 kilograms. It combines a lightweight plastic frame with breathable mesh for the seat and backrest. The proprietary mesh, named Intermix, is specific to the chairs and comes in a selection of colourways that have a translucent, multi-coloured finish. The chair also includes a suspension seat and uses LiveBack® technology – a geometric feature that allows the backrest to adjust and mimic the natural movements of the spine to support a healthy posture.

“The suspension seat with integrated cushioning provides maximum comfort for as long as you sit,” said Steelcase.

The ultra-light frame flexes to eliminate painful pressure points common in other mesh chairs.

Breakthrough Comfort

A comfort dial situated beneath the seat allows users to switch between four reclining positions and adjust the resistance. Rotating arms can be placed in a range of positions that enhance elbow support. The chair was made from a minimal number of components, with the aim of reducing its impact on the environment during the manufacturing process.

“By using minimal resources, Steelcase Karman reduces its impact on the earth, delivering a holistic approach to sustainability while supporting our carbon commitments,” said the brand.

The chairs were designed to facilitate comfortable and productive working.
