Scope:
Oxford House, synonymous with the import and retail of home appliances, kitchens, home furniture, bedding and office solutions, is seeking to recruit the services of a Financial Controller. The Financial Controller is a manager who will oversee all aspects of the organisation’s finance and accounting functions. The financial controller is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, and completeness of the financial statements as well as developing and implementing financial policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the accounting team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Oversee and be directly involved in all foundational and preparatory work to have a final extended trial balance that can be used to then prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements.
  • Be involved in financial data analysis to identify trends, assess performance, and inform decision-making.
  • Be involved in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Prepare all needed VAT reporting.
  • Monitor internal controls and ensure compliance with financial and tax regulations.
  • Manage the accounting team and provide guidance on accounting policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with external auditors and other financial professionals.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow and liquidity and optimise the use of financial resources.
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve financial efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Evaluate and implement changes to financial systems and software to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial accounting and management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong can-do attitude.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
